Meta AI: the assistant you already have.
You probably have Meta AI already — it is built into WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Facebook, a standalone app, and Ray-Ban glasses. Powered by Meta's Muse Spark model, it is the assistant that meets you inside the apps you already use. Here is the lay of the land.
01What Meta AI is
Meta AI is Meta's assistant, now running on its most capable model, Muse Spark. Instead of being a separate destination, it is woven into the apps billions already open daily — answer a question in a chat, generate an image in a DM, or ask your glasses about what you are looking at.
02Where it lives
WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook — ask it inside chats or via the search bar. The Meta AI app and website — the fullest, most capable version with voice and a Discover feed. Ray-Ban Meta glasses — hands-free, with a camera that lets it see what you see.
Distribution and multimodality. It is already on your phone with no new app to learn, and it can see through your camera — snap a photo and ask "what is this?" or "which of these has the most protein?"
03Free, with a catch
Meta AI is free to use across the apps. The trade-off is privacy posture: it lives inside Meta's ecosystem, so it is worth understanding what it can see and how to set your boundaries — covered in the privacy lesson.
